Add it to your browser
Right-click anything you read and it's saved to your notebook, with a link back to where it came from. YouTube videos come with their transcript. Setting it up takes about two minutes.
Install it
- Unzip the foldersomewhere you'll keep it. The browser loads it from that folder, so if you delete it later the extension stops working.
- Open your browser's extensions page. Chrome, Brave and Comet:
chrome://extensions. Edge:edge://extensions. Arc:arc://extensions. - Turn on “Developer mode” — a switch, usually top right.
- Click “Load unpacked” and choose the folder you unzipped.
- The connect page opens by itself. If it doesn't, go to thenotebook.site/connect, sign in, and click “Connect this browser”. One click — there's no key to copy.
Using it
- Right-click any page, article, video or post → Save to Digital Notebook.
- Or press Alt+Shift+S.
- Or click the Digital Notebook icon in the toolbar.
Everything you save appears in your notebook, with things from the same source gathered into one note — so there are no folders to keep tidy. If a save can't be delivered (you're offline, say) it waits and goes in as soon as it can.
Why it isn't in the Chrome Web Store yet
It will be. While Digital Notebook is in private beta it's installed this way, which is also why your browser calls it a developer extension. It only reads a page when you ask it to save one — see the privacy policy.
